Luis Machuca was born in Vina Del Mar, Chile. His childhood was suffused in the joys of sunshine and the rhythms of South America.
When Luis moved to Toronto, Canada, his musical horizons were further broadened by the burgeoning club scenes of Toronto, Montreal and New York City. Luis initiated his DJ career at the age of sixteen, spinning a blend of disco, funk, soul and 80’s dance music. In the late 80‘s, Luis got his first taste of house music and his first experience of the underground party movement, and he quickly developed an appetite for house music and the underground party trends. He frequently visited after-hours clubs to fuel his hunger for the love of music and for the freedom to dance.
A bigger influence occurred when Luis was introduced to the art of beat making and his passion for producing and remixing was born. He was initiated into the urban music scene (El Barrio “The Hood”) where local DJ producers gathered and collaborated to create their flawless rhythms and beats, mastering the programming of the famous Roland TR 808 and the 909 drum machine, accompanied by the Akai digital sampler S900. It was love at first sound.
By the time Luis arrived in Vancouver in 1991, he was already experimenting with original music production. Luis’ musical journey continues today. Currently, DJ Luis Machuca is curator for the Mark James Group at “Distillery Bar” and has taken on the duty of musical director and talent scout. His original music productions have been featured on SoulStar/ClubStar Records compilations: “Cafe de Solaire Vol.16” + “The Latin House Club Night” + “Lounge Milano Vol. XI” In addition, many other releases on Maurice Joshua Digital, Ospina Digital, Delecto Recordings and Deep Culture Music.
He has also produced and promoted house music events with such celebrated names as Barbara Tucker, Kenny Bobien, Tortured Soul, Timmy Regisford, Mark Farina, Franck Rogers, And Miguel Migs, just to name a few.Luis Machuca continues to captivate the crowds with his unique style of playing and his broad musical spectrum of international rhythms and grooves…
